I made this shawl according to Kirsten Bishop’s ‘Klaziena’ Design. The design is on the simpler side but I really like it. Next year, I plan to make myself a large, solid color shawl with this pattern.
To make this shawl, I used a Polish brand of yarn, Kokonek. Triple thread yarn, color A054: Błękit/szary/malinowy róż. I used up almost 1400m crocheting with a 3mm crochet hook.
Kokonek is the 3rd brand of yarn that I tried out this summer and I think it is my favorite brand. The yarn I chose was 50% cotton/ 50% acrylic and made of 3 individual, non-twisted threads. It is this last aspect that is both their strength and biggest weakness.
‘Why a weakness?’ you may ask. Well, it’s very easy for the thread to split and for you to lose a thread or two as you work. The non-twisted aspect also makes it easier for you to pull a thread loose if your creation were to get caught on something.
But one has to admit that this yarn has more strengths than weaknesses. This scarf was made from a single ball of yarn- 1400m long!!! In my eyes, that’s a HUGE plus. I don’t particularly enjoy knotting the yarn between transitions in color but I’m ok with it because the plentiful length allows me to transition between colors wherever I want- not where the yarn dictates. Without a feeling of absolute freedom, I just cut the yarn in the chosen spot and tie my own knots.
The Kokonki brand actually makes yarn with 2, 3, or 4 threads, combining about 110 different color shades. Can you even imagine how many possible combinations that leaves? The length varies from 800m to 2000m based on your needs. And if all that wasn’t enough, they recently added a new function- you can choose the colors, the number of threads and order your own personalized ball of yarn which can range in length from 250m to 5000m. There’s also a third option to order solid colored yarn with each ball ranging from 250m to 2500m. Lastly, I would like to add that the yarn is of great quality- it doesn’t dye the water at all.
This yarn is amazing and I’m sure I’ll be working with them for many future projects.

Šiuo atveju skara buvo nunerta iš lenkiškų Kokonek siūlų.T Trijų gijų siūlas; spalva A054: Błękit/szary/malinowy róż. Šaliui suėjo beveik 1400 metrų 3 gijų siūlo. Nėriau 3mm vąšeliu.
Kokonek yra tretieji mano šią vasarą išbandyti ir turbūt labiausiai man patikę melanžiniai siūlai. Šių siūlų sudėtis: 50% medvilnė/50% akrilas. Mano atveju siūlas susideda iš 3 visiškai nesuktų gijų – tai šių siūlų privalumas, bet tuo pačiu ir trūkumas. Kodėl sakau, kad trūkumas? – neriant labai lengva pamesti giją, o ir nunertame gaminyje lengva užtraukti siūlą.
Bet reikia pripažinti, kad privalumų šie siūlai turi daugiau nei trūkumų. Jau turbūt pastebėjot, kad nėriau skarą iš kamuoliuko, kurio ilgis – 1400 metrų!!! Man tai didžiulis privalumas. Perėjimo nuo spalvos prie spalvos mazgai man nepatinka, bet tai nesvarbu, nes dosnus siūlo ilgis man leidžia spalvų pokyčius atlikti mano geidžiamose vietose, o ne taikytis prie siūlo – taigi aš be baimės kerpu ten, kur man reikia, ir rišu savus mazgus.
Kokonek siūlai yra gaminami ne tik iš 2, 3, bet ir iš 4 gijų, kombinuojant maždaug 110 atspalvių. Ar įsivaizduojat kiek skirtingų kombinacijų galima sugalvoti? Iš sandėlio siūlų kamuoliuką galima užsakyti pagal poreikį nuo 800 iki 2000 metrų ilgio. Lyg to nebūtų gana neseniai atsirado nauja funkcija – galima sukomponuoti ir užsakyti savo pageidaujamų atspalvių kamuoliuką, kurio ilgis gali varijuoti nuo 250 iki 5000 metrų. Jis gali būti tiek 2, tiek 3, tiek ir 4 gijų. Galima užsisakyti ir 3 ar 4 gijų vienspalvius kamuoliukus nuo 250 iki 2500 metrų. Norėčiau dar būtinai pažymėti, kad siūlai labai geros kokybės ir visiškai nedažo vandens.
Tai tikrai puikūs siūlai iš kurių nersiu dar ne vieną kartą.
